Feeble Security Won’t Cut It + Automate The Boring Stuff
I think it’s pretty universally agreed that attending medical school is a huge and admirable undertaking.
Kind, hard working, intelligent people devote at least four years of their life - not including their residency! - to studying the information that will help them save lives.
And when any of us are choosing a doctor, I imagine we’d all prefer someone who went to a great med school - a place full of cutting edge technology and personalized support … the sort of place that produces Dr. Gregory House, not Dr. Nick from The Simpsons.
We were thrilled when we were hired by a leading medical school to help redefine medical education by putting immersive technology at the center of their program.
Now, if you’re about to scroll away because you’re thinking “Glad you landed an impressive client Jared, but what’s that got to do with me? Whooooo caaaares?” Stay with me here!
Our team learned a lot from this project - and I’m sharing all our takeaways and how you can apply them to just about any business or project. You can read the whole blog post here.
Meet the Client: A Medical School Ready to Innovate
When our client approached us, they were ready to change how their students used technology. Think virtual reality, AI-driven assessments, and personalized learning experiences tailored to each student’s strengths and weaknesses.
This school wasn’t interested in small updates—they wanted to shake up their curriculum in a big way, using the latest tech to create a more engaging, effective experience for future healthcare professionals.
But they needed help to make it happen. They were looking for a partner who could create a cohesive, multi-faceted platform that didn’t just add bells and whistles but genuinely transformed the learning experience. That’s where we came in.
Takeaway for your next project:
When thinking about technology for your organization, start with a clear, ambitious goal that centers on user experience. By focusing on how to create real, lasting value for your users, you set the stage for innovations that are impactful rather than just flashy.
The Challenge: A Laundry List of Tech Needs
Our initial conversation made it clear: this wasn’t just a “one-and-done” project. They had a range of goals, each requiring different technologies and approaches.
They wanted their students to engage with diverse, lifelike clinical cases through VR, interact with “patients” from a variety of backgrounds, and learn in an environment that mirrored the real world. They also wanted a system that would allow students to take assessments on their own terms, while AI-driven anti-fraud measures ensured test integrity.
Beyond the student-facing side, the school wanted a smoother enrollment process, with everything from self-service portals to facial recognition, making it a breeze for new students to sign up. They even wanted their marketing and outreach to feel personal, with AI-powered CRM and communication tools to keep students engaged long after they’d graduated.
Needless to say, we had our work cut out for us. But it was exactly the kind of challenge we love—a chance to use tech to solve real problems and create an experience that would last.
Takeaway for your next project:
For complex projects, prioritize integration and user-friendliness. Even the most advanced tools won’t deliver value if they’re confusing or burdensome to use. A successful tech solution should feel intuitive and support users at every step.
I go much more in-depth (and share a lot more takeaways) in the blog post. In the end, this project was about more than just flashy technology.
We were able to help our client reimagine their educational process, creating an environment that was more engaging, effective, and secure. It was a great reminder of what’s possible when you blend innovation with a clear focus on user experience and results.
